Krabi Islands (from Phuket)

For tours from Krabi please switch to -> Destinations -> From Krabi

Krabi's popularity still lags far behind Phuket's popularity - and that's why it's growing in popularity, as it still has that original, more natural and local vibe and a wealth of idyllic islands to rival those around Phuket.

A cruise off the coast of Krabi through the sparkling, azure Andaman Sea reveals stunning, secluded islands perfect for snorkeling, diving, canoeing, exploring, or just lounging. Some are little more than sandbanks or Rocks, others are home to a variety of tropical flora and fauna, as well as beautiful lagoons teeming with marine life.

Koh Hong Island (Krabi)

The Koh Hong archipelago consists of about a dozen islands, with only the largest island boasting several beautiful beaches. These include Pelay Beach, a beautiful white coral sand beach lapped by waters teeming with tropical marine life.

In the center of the island lies a large lagoon protected by a ring of eroded limestone caves. Since only a narrow inlet allows access to the lagoon by boat, you'll have to wait for high tide before heading inside and enjoying the spectacular scenery.

There is also a short nature trail that you can walk during your stay.

Koh Lao Lading (Ko Rakhing, Paradise Island)

Also known as Paradise Island, Koh Lao Lading is a beautiful location for a stopover to relax, swim and snorkel in the sheltered bay, before heading off for more adventure. Its just ittle more than 2 kilometres north of Koh Hong.

Koh Phak Bia '(Pakbia)

Koh Phak Bia is a small island with stunning limestone rock formations and white, sandy beaches. It is a popular stop on many boat tours to enjoy the beautiful scenery, have a sunbathing picnic on the beach and snorkel in the crystal clear waters.

Do be aware of your belongings though as there are cheeky monkeys on the island that like to help themselves to whatever snacks or items tourists may have laying around unattended.

Koh Kai (Chicken Island /Koh Hua Khwan)

Koh Kai is famously located about 8 kilometers from Ao Nang and owes its name to the shape of its strange rock formations, resembling a chicken's head.

The island not only impresses with crystal clear water and white sandy beaches, but is also considered one of the most spectacular snorkeling spots in the Krabi Sea.

Very close by are two other islands, Mo Island and Tap Island, whose sandy junctions are revealed at low tide, revealing the breathtaking scenery of a white sandbar in the middle of the sea. The place is called "Thale Waek" or "Sea Separated".

Koh Tup / Ko Mor

The waters around these islands in the Krabi archipelago are so shallow that white sandbars can be seen everywhere at low tide - making it easy to walk from one island to another. Even Chicken Island or Koh Kai are within walking distance. Of course, if you're too lazy to walk, you can also swim ... which is worth it, because snorkeling is rewarded with a clear view of the lively underwater world.

Those who are fed up with walking on the seabed can also climb to the top of Koh Tup for stunning views of the surrounding islands.

Koh Poda (Ko Pa Da Nai)

One of the most famous islands in the Krabi archipelago, Koh Poda is actually part of a family with smaller siblings Koh Kai, Koh Tap and Koh Mor.

Covered almost entirely with palm and pine trees, the island is very photogenic thanks to beautiful white sand that surrounds it. But snorkeling, diving and kayaking is also a pleasure here.

There are a handful of restaurants and bars in the area.
